Obtained from Families of 9/11, a 11 ft, 3500 lb steel beam from the south tower of the world trade center was obtained in 2011. The original plan was to turn it into a permanent Memorial in Tallahassee. Finally with the completion of the Tallahassee National Cemetery a suitable site has been established. The concept is a large sun dial with the beam being the "Nomen". On the circular pad, brass markers of pertinent events of that day (8:46 Flight 11 hits the WTC South Tower) to Tower 7 collapse. On the end will be a large stainless steel flag with all the names of the fallen etched into its stripes.
Help us make this a amazing reminder of this day in Florida's capital city.
